Garment care
Cared for properly, these pieces should outlast the decade.
Cashmere and pashmina
Hand wash in cool water with a wool detergent, no more than three times a season. Never wring. Press the water out between two towels and dry flat, away from sun and heat. Fold — never hang — knitwear.
Tailoring
Brush after each wearing and rest a jacket for a day between wears. Dry clean sparingly — twice a year is plenty for most coats. Always use a shaped hanger.
Silk and linen
Silk is dry clean only. Linen may be machine washed cold and line dried; press while slightly damp. Both should be stored out of direct light.
